New System Uses Latest Technologies to Track Student Activities and Will Help HISD Schools Tackle Tardiness Issues
MIAMI, Sept. 9. Plasco ID announced today that it has agreed to a district-wide contract with the Houston Independent School District (HISD) for the PlascoTrac Student Tracking System. By the end of 2009, HISD expects 50 HISD schools to be fully operational with the PlascoTrac System. Plans to implement the system at the remaining approximately 250 HISD schools are also under consideration.
PlascoTrac is an automated student tracking system used to track discipline issues such as tardiness, dress code violations and cell phone use. With a quick scan of a student’s ID card, PlascoTrac logs an incident, prints a pass, and the student is off to class within seconds. Prior to PlascoTrac, many HISD schools used handwritten passes and antiquated log books to keep track of discipline compliance. HISD will also be using the PlascoTrac Mobile units for remote tracking of event attendance at school dances, after-school programs and sporting events.
Robert Fazakerly, Procurement Manager at HISD says, “Based on our discussions with many of our school administrators, the PlascoTrac System will be greatly appreciated as a huge time-saver. Increasing management efficiency is one of the formal goals of the District and we believe PlascoTrac will do just that.”
Alan Mendelson, President of Plasco ID states, “The PlascoTrac System solves a huge pain point for many schools and we are thrilled to have the Houston Independent School District implement it. With PlascoTrac, administrators no longer need to rely on labor-intensive, old-fashioned tracking methods and can now easily increase the accountability of their students.”
The PlascoTrac System will be integrated with HISD’s Chancery SMS Student Information System. The combination of the two systems will provide complete behavior data for each individual student as well as a district-wide glimpse of overall behavior patterns.
